Telstra International chosen by Endemol UK to support IT network

Leading independent producer Endemol UK, has chosen Telstra International to provide its managed network services. The network will enable Endemol’s remote workers throughout the UK to work more efficiently with highly secure access to the corporate network, using Telstra International’s IPVPN and ADSL lines.

The demands on Endemol’s UK network are ever increasing due to its continued growth, with the company recently acquiring production companies Tiger Aspect, Darlow Smithson and Tigress. Around a quarter of Endemol’s employees work remotely at any given time, connecting to the corporate network to access emails and documents associated with its popular entertainment programmes such as ‘Deal or No Deal’ and ‘Total Wipeout’. All employees in the UK are required to connect to the central London office to access documents and emails. By utilising Telstra International’s MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) network, Endemol’s new IT infrastructure will allow constant secure access to all resources, whilst managing peaks in usage.

According to Adam Bijster, IT Project Manager at Endemol, Telstra International’s network has provided a foundation on which all company systems can rely.

“Working with Telstra International means day-to-day activities such as sending emails are simpler, particularly for our remote staff. Previously our helpdesk had to set up every connection in person, and now we can provide support for everything remotely. Not only are these processes easier, but all of our Endemol offices and offsite employees can now work much more closely together, with quick and secure access to the information they need,” Bijster said.

In addition to freeing up the helpdesk and access, the network also helps ensure that Endemol can maintain its high standards of data protection and security involved with managing television productions. By working closely with the Telstra International engineers from the initial set-up, Endemol can be confident that the network is monitored and managed 24/7 by its dedicated account management team.

Andrew Wildblood, Vice President Sales, Telstra International EMEA said “Endemol has changed the face of entertainment programming through innovative formats. For the productivity of such a creative company to be maximised, there should be no IT concerns with the day-to-day support of its workforce. By ensuring its workers have reliable connections to the company network outside the office, Endemol can focus solely on creating the innovative programming that is much loved around the world.”

Based on the strength of the network infrastructure, Bijster is now considering additional technology to further enhance productivity and enable additional cost savings, for example VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and video conferencing.

“Thanks to the robust infrastructure we now have in place, there are many additional projects we can undertake that will have a positive impact on our daily operations. By building on this success we now have greater potential to improve efficiencies across the company,” said Bijster.
