Telstra International introduces Global Conference Solutions to help businesses maximise ICT infrastructure investment

Telstra International, a leading global provider of managed networked solutions, today announced a suite of Global Conference Solutions based on Internet Protocol (IP) for users to conduct enterprise-grade on-net audio and video conferences on a unified communications platform.

Telstra International, a leading global provider of managed networked solutions, today announced a suite of Global Conference Solutions based on Internet Protocol (IP) for users to conduct enterprise-grade on-net audio and video conferences on a unified communications platform. For businesses, the suite will help boost network utilisation and reduce monthly off-net voice telephony expenses. For employees, they can be more effective in global collaboration projects, improve international team dynamics and enhance workplace productivity.

Telstra International Director of Products and Marketing, Mr Nathan Bell said Telstra is offering customers three different Global Conference Solutions to choose from - Global MeetMe Conference, Global Premium Conference and Global Web Conference.

“All three services are billable on a pay-per-use basis for each registered user, and offer businesses an IT chargeback strategy by providing online reports about users’ call charges and service usage on a next day basis,” he said

  • Global MeetMe Conference –This is a reservation-less audio conference service with rich features such as roll call and recorded playback for up to 40 participants from almost any location in the world. On-Net Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) access can link participants into their "home bridge" to join the event regardless of where they are actually dialling from, hence reducing costs and complexity compared with using different access numbers in different regions. Users access the conference service by pushing a pre-programmed one-button1 on their IP phones.
  • Global Premium Conference – This is a managed audio conference service suitable for hosting large events of up to 2,500 participants. The conference is facilitated by a dedicated conference operator.
  • Global Web Conference – This is an internet-based web conference service that supports up to 1,250 participants online, complete with rich features such as whiteboard collaboration, document sharing and messaging.

“Introducing global conference capabilities is about helping customers get more out of their existing network infrastructure and to maximise their ICT investment. The service also addresses CIOs’ needs for a sustainable ICT strategy to support dynamic and sometimes volatile demands on ICT infrastructure,” Mr Bell said.

“Successful businesses today are no longer relying on making significant cost cuttings quarter after quarter as a sustainable growth strategy. Instead, they are expanding into new geographies to grow their customer base and return profits to shareholders. But CIOs are also faced with limited IT budgets, and the pressure is greater than ever before to implement IT initiatives that support business objectives and capitalise on new growth opportunities.

“Our Global Conference Solutions will help ensure better alignment of IT efforts with business goals. Businesses will be able to maintain better control over operating costs while positively impacting the effectiveness of a dramatically expanded global work environment. Imagine the innovation possibilities and productivity gains that could result from having cross-border employees engaged with one another in richer exchanges of ideas or collaborations within international hubs,” Mr Bell concluded.
