Global Ethernet Virtual Private Line

Using Ethernet technology in your Wide Area Network (WAN) is not only extremely versatile but also quick to deploy, easy to manage and cost-effective.
Ethernet Private Line

MEF Certified Compliant

Ethernet doesn’t have to be restricted to your Local Area Network (LAN). With Telstra International's Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) certified global Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) you can easily establish robust network connections between company headquarters or data centres and regional offices across the globe. A number of scalable bandwidth options allow capacity to be increased gradually via ‘soft’ upgrades in line with business growth and changing needs.

Delivered over Telstra’s industry leading Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, global EVPL establishes point-to-point or point-to-multi-point connections with in-built resiliency. Furthermore, a choice of service grades enables voice and other urgent data traffic to be prioritised as required.

By re-using existing equipment or purchasing relatively inexpensive upgrades, global EVPL can be deployed quickly and easily. Running costs are lower than traditional dedicated private line services, with performance backed by Telstra’s industry leading MPLS network. Strong fault tolerance is inherent to the service; if one route fails traffic is automatically re-routed with minimal service disruption.

Telstra now delivers MEF-compliant Ethernet Network Interface Devices (NIDs) as standard on all customer sites and Ethernet Media Convertors (EMCs) can be used where Ethernet access circuits into the customer premises are not available.

Features

  • Point-to-point or point-to-multi-point connectivity
  • Wide range of Ethernet speeds from 1Mbps to 1Gbps
  • Choice of bandwidth increment options
  • Strong fault tolerance with a protected core network
  • Two service grades for prioritisation of data traffic
  • End–to-end support and diagnostics with Ethernet NIDs provided as standard
  • Support for Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) / Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH) access circuits using Ethernet Media Convertors (EMCs)

Benefits

  • Flexible and resilient network design
  • Scalable capacity to match business needs
  • Connect central hub to multiple sites
  • Lower total cost of ownership
  • Reduced downtime and more reliable installation dates with Ethernet NIDs
