In 2016, Telstra partnered with The Economist Intelligence Unit to launch the first-ever Asian Digital Transformation Index. This was a quantitative ranking of 11 major Asian markets, as well as Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, to gauge digital infrastructure, human capital and industry connectedness.
What has changed in the two years since its launch?
Our second, 2018 edition of the Index found that:
Singapore retains its top spot in the Index in 2018, with Japan and Hong Kong overtaking South Korea to take second and third place, and Taiwan at number 5.
Economies such as India and Japan, as well as the overall leader Singapore, made some progress in aspects of digital infrastructure and human capital.
Others, such as South Korea, Malaysia and mainland China, register marked improvements in terms of industry connectivity.
