I'm Mark Sherman,
Mark joined Telstra Ventures as a Managing Director in 2012. Previously, he was a General Partner at Hidden Lion Partners, an emerging growth equity firm focused on technology-enabled services. Previously, he was a General Partner at Battery Ventures where he led the firm’s enterprise IT and India investment practices with investments in Coupa, Mformation, Neoteris, and Tejas. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Robertson Stephens & Company, where he ran its software investment banking practice working with companies such as BEA, HNC, Informatica, JD Edwards, Quest, and Siebel.
Mark received his MBA from Harvard Business School and BS in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
I'm Matthew Koertge,
Matthew joined Telstra in 2011 and is a Managing Director of Telstra Ventures. Matthew has worked with almost 50 global venture backed companies including a number of successful acquisitions and IPOs. He currently serves as a director on the boards of Mandoe Media, IP Health and Health Engine. Investments which Matthew has worked on previously include: Seek, LookSmart, Telera, OneBox, Engana, RedSheriff and ManageSoft.
Matthew holds a BE (Electrical) from the University of New South Wales, an LLB from the University of Sydney, as well as an MBA from the AGSM completed at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Matthew also holds the FAICD qualification and completed the HPLP at the Harvard Business School.
I'm Albert Bielinko,
Albert joined Telstra Ventures in 2015. Previously, he was an Investment Manager at a ~A$3bn global boutique funds management firm where he was responsible for origination, leading execution of investment opportunities and active asset management. Prior to this, he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs for almost 5 years. Whilst at Goldman, Albert covered Technology, Media and Telecommunications clients and executed a significant number of transactions, ranging from complex multibillion dollar mergers to small private sales to IPOs. Albert is a non-executive director of the NSW arm of the National Heart Foundation of Australia. Albert commenced his career as a corporate lawyer.
Albert holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Accounting) and Bachelor of Laws (with 1st Class Honours) from the University of Sydney, where he received multiple scholarships.
I'm Gurpreet Ghuliani,
Head of Strategic Synergy
Gurpreet has over 20 years global experience across industries including IT & Telecommunications, managed services, ecommerce and investment banking. Prior to joining Telstra Ventures, he was Head of Segments and New Offers for Global Enterprise & Services – International, driving new offers and venture company solutions to targeted segments. Before that he was Group Manager for Segment Solutions at Telstra’s Innovation, Products and Marketing division. Here he developed a new practice to focus on increasing vertical and horizontal segment market share through delivery of relevant offers to support Telstra’s Network & Applications Services business. He has also held roles as Group Manager for Unified Communications and Group Manager for IP Telephony, responsible for the launch of Telstra’s Hosted IP Telephony service.
Gurpreet first joined Telstra in 1990 as an undergraduate and worked extensively in the area of product management before becoming Regional Director, EMEA for Telstra in the UK. He also has experience working at HSBC as Associate Director for Equity Analysis – Internet Software & Technologies and Connect.com and AAPT (Australia) as General Manager for Product Marketing.
Gurpreet holds a Masters in Marketing (Melb), a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Finance (Swinburne) and a Bachelors in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Melb).
I'm Chris Pu,
Chris joined Telstra Ventures in mid 2015 to lead its China investments. Chris brings more than 20 years of experience in direct investment and business development with on-the-ground investment practices in China, Korea, Taiwan, India, Malaysia and the US. Most recently, Chris worked at Intel Capital focusing on mobile, communications and internet services investments in China and Asia and prior to that he co-founded a technology fund based in Silicon Valley. Chris has a significant investment track record in Asia and the US including several major exits in acquisitions and IPOs.
Chris holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, a MS in Control Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BS in Engineering from TsingHua University in Taiwan.
I'm Geoff Dolphin,
Geoff joined Telstra Ventures as its CFO in June 2012. Prior to joining Telstra Ventures, he was CFO of a Sydney based venture capital firm, Innovation Capital, and sat on the boards of its investees. Geoff founded a venture backed software company in San Francisco and held management roles for both Diageo and Allied Domecq in Europe. Earlier in his career, Geoff trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Economics from University of Sydney, as well as an MBA from St John’s University in New York.
I'm Maggie Zhou,
Maggie Zhou joined Telstra in 2012 and has worked in various roles across the International, M&A Integration and M2M/IoT business units. Prior to joining Telstra, Maggie spent time as a Business Consultant in the telecommunications and retail sectors. She has also held an internship with the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Maggie holds a Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) from NorthWestern Polytechnical University, China and a Masters of Business and Information Technology, from The University of Melbourne, Australia.
I'm Marcus Bartram,
Marcus is a founding Partner of Telstra Ventures and has invested in technology and software companies globally including ipSCAPE, Elastica (ACQ:BlueCoat), Headspin, vArmour, Dimmi (ACQ:TripAdvisor), Cohere Technologies, Zimperium and AttackIQ.
Prior to this Marcus held various senior leadership roles in Telstra including Director of Product Marketing for a $1Bn product portfolio and Director of Corporate Development. Before Telstra Marcus held executive and management positions across the globe for both start-up and multi-national organisations in the industrial engineering, banking and IT sectors.
Marcus holds an MBA from the University of Oxford as well as a Bachelor or Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) with honours from the University of Adelaide
I'm Michael McHugh,
Michael joined Telstra in 2006. Previously, Michael held a variety of roles within Telstra, including: investment evaluation development of financial modelling; due diligence of projects; product development, pricing and profitability; business process improvement; capital management and resource planning. Prior to Telstra, Michael worked in audit & assurance and held a number of financial accounting roles in multinational technology, industrial and VC groups in the UK.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration (Accounting) from the University of New England and is a Chartered Accountant.
I'm Rajesh Crumlin,
Raj joined Telstra in 2000. He has over 15 years of architectural experience in evaluating, designing and deploying large scale enterprise and industry technologies.
Raj has developed deep experience across multiple industry verticals including emergency services, M2M, banking and finance, mining, oil and gas, health, retail, media, radio and satellite.
He has held various leadership roles in the Architectural and Business Development units within Telstra’s Enterprise and Government business. Prior to joining Telstra, Raj was responsible for the communications networks that serviced Westpac’s Institutional Bank, which included the dealing rooms, back office and associated data centres.
I'm Saad Siddiqui,
Saad joined Telstra Ventures in 2016 and is based in San Francisco. Previously, he was part of the corporate development team at Informatica, where he led various aspects of acquisitions, venture investments and partnerships. Prior to this, Saad was part of Cisco Ventures & Corporate Development, where he covered investments and acquisitions of infrastructure software. Before moving to the San Francisco Bay area, he worked in investment banking at RBC Capital Markets and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Saad holds a BSc in Finance from Rutgers University.
I'm Sarah Robertson,
Sarah Robertson joined Telstra in 2010 and has worked in both domestic and international roles across the Global Enterprise and Services business including Offer Development, Segment Solutions and Enterprise Marketing. Most recently, Sarah was Head of Marketing (EMEA) based in London and prior to that headed up the Partner Plus marketing program for Cisco Systems across Europe.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from Monash University and is a member of the Emerging Marketers Society
I'm Steve Schmidt,
Steve Schmidt joined Telstra in 2001. Previously, Steve held various leadership roles within Telstra, such as: Account Director for Westpac Banking Corporation; National Manager Managed Radio and Wireless; National Manager Mobile Applications and National Manager Industry Solutions. Steve has worked extensively with telecommunications and cloud based applications to create transformational outcomes for Enterprise & Government customers. Two projects of national significance include Telstra’s National Emergency Alert Solution and Telstra’s New Train Communication System for the Australian Federal Government.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta in Canada.
I'm Yash Patel,
Yash joined Telstra Ventures in 2014. Previously, he was a Director of Corporate Development and Strategy at Adknowledge, an online advertising technology platform whose investors include TCV, JMI, TPG, and Nokia. While at Adknowledge, Yash sourced and executed acquisitions and lead strategic planning for the business. Prior to Adknowledge, Yash was an investment banker at Jefferies LLC where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and strategic advisory in the technology sector.
Yash holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Biology from University College London.
